Comrade Idris Haruna Magami, a journalist with the Zamfara State Radio and Television Service in Gusau, has been abducted by unidentified thugs.
According to eyewitnesses, Magami was kidnapped on his way back to his village of Magami, around 40 kilometres from Gusau, the state capital, after closing hours on Wednesday.
Comrade Magami is a well-known Zamfara Radio and Television Service journalist, as well as the presenter of the weekly Hausa phone-in programme “Su duniya manya.”
“Idris Haruna Magami was heading to his homeland with his companion, Alhaji Kabiru, when their car was assaulted by robbers,” said Malam Almu, an indigene of Magami village.
He further said that their car performed a summersault and crashed into a ditch.
Almu revealed that Alhaji Kabiru managed to flee, however Idris Magami was abducted by robbers and carried to an unknown location.
According to him, the robbers have already talked with Idris Haruna’s family but have yet to reveal the sum demanded as ransom.
All attempts to contact the State Police spokesman, SP Mohammed Shehu, were futile since his phone number was unreachable.
