Akeredolu’s Muslim-Muslim Ticket: Ignore Religion, Vote Based on Competence

Rotimi Akeredolu, the governor of Ondo State and chairman of the Southern Governors Forum, urged Nigerians on Wednesday to vote for competence in the next general elections, stressing that the outcome of the vice president would not have an impact on the effectiveness of any administration.

The job ends at the president’s desk, according to Akeredolu, who expressed confidence that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, will save the country.

“Muslim-Muslim Ticket has nothing to do with performance,” said Akeredolu. Let’s cast our votes for a capable candidate. At the President’s desk, the task is completed. You are choosing the President in this election. He makes the decisions. Because we in the South fought for this, it shouldn’t matter if it’s a Muslim/Muslim or a Christian/Christian.

He said, “I have no doubt that Asiwaju Tinubu, given the chance, from what he has done in Lagos, will turn things around for the better.

Speaking during the inauguration of two new commissioners, which took place at the Governor’s Office in Alagbaka, Akure, the state capital, at the Cocoa Conference Hall.

Sowore Akinwumi Samson and Ologbese Adeboboye Joseph are the new commissioners.

The governor commanded the two new commissioners to avoid interruptions from friends, family, and political allies.

Akeredolu expressed his excitement at having individuals with the necessary competence to promote the cause of good governance.

He emphasised that his government will always be fearless in demanding total devotion and allegiance, noting that his administration has started a political journey toward morality.

“As we move closer to keeping our promise of redemption, we won’t tolerate any actions that even remotely suggest dishonesty and treachery. The people have always been at the centre of all we do. We won’t stray from this honourable course.

“Recently, a very horrifying event put to the test our commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of people who gave us the mandate to serve.

“Some cowards sent a message in recognition of our function as a significant catalyst in the rekindled and steadfast effort to enhance the country’s present democratic experiment.

“Our approach has received a great deal of support from our fellow countrymen and women, who see the necessity of thoughtful and persistent interventions in our effort to locate the current democratic practise within the boundaries of defensible standards in the contemporary world.

“We are conscious of the great threat that our stand against some elements’ hegemonic ambition entails. Even if the enormity of the terrible act has shocked us, we are still focused and unwavering. He spoke.

The governor declared that he is committed to uprooting the evil that has been sown by individuals whose goal is to sow discord among the many racial and ethnic groupings.

Although the indicators are concerning, Akeredolu reassured that perfidy will finally be defeated by the people’s united will.

“We are encouraged by the never-ending stream of evocations expressing not only approval of our modest contributions to protect lives and property in the execution of our immediate mandate in Ondo State, but also, and more importantly, messages delivered by organisations, coupled with the actual visits and donations by prominent and revered patriots in solidarity with the government of Ondo State, and, especially, the Olowo-in-Council and the people of Owo Kingdom on the horrendous

“We also express our sincere thanks for the sympathy letters we have received from diplomatic missions abroad, the federal and state governments, and a large number of people both domestically and abroad.

“We are very appreciative of the fact that we all rejected partisanship and opposed brutality. We are committed to uprooting the seeds of evil that have been planted by those whose goal is to sow discord among the many factions of our people. The warning signals are there, but eventually perfidy will be stopped by our collective commitment, he added.

Akeredolu underlined that his government will forcefully prohibit all dishonourable practises that aim to shortchange the people while advising the incoming Commissioners to carry out their responsibilities honourably.

The Deputy Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, members of the State Executive Council led by Princess Oladunni Odu, the Secretary to the State Government, Justice Williams Akintoroye, the Chief Judge of the State, Engr. Ade Adetimehin, the APC State Chairman, and the Kalasuwe of Apoiland, Oba (Professor) Adejimola Amuseghan were among the dignitaries and top government officials present at
