Osun State’s governor, Gbeyega Oyetola
The governor of Osun State and candidate for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the state’s recently held governorship election, Gboyega Oyetola, is ready to use legal methods to have the results overturned in his favour.
Remember that Senator Ademola Adeleke, a candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), was proclaimed the victor of the Osun gubernatorial election conducted on Saturday, July 16, 2022.
Adeleke received 403,371 PDP votes, defeating Oyetola and the APC with 375,027, and 2,729 Labour Party, LP votes for Lasun Yusuf.
Speaking about Oyetola’s plans to challenge Adeleke’s win in court, senior counsel Kunle Adegoke, a member of Oyetola’s legal team, said that 50 attorneys have expressed interest in taking the case.
In response to a question on the legal justifications for Oyetola’s challenge against Adeleke, Adegoke said that they were still analysing the election results and compiling their evidence.
To contest Adeleke’s proclamation as the new governor, we are currently analysing the election results, developing the legal arguments, and gathering proof. At this time, around 50 attorneys have expressed interest in joining us. He spoke.
